Schezwan Noodles Recipe | Szechuan Noodles | Veg Schezwan Noodles with step-by-step photo and video recipe. Noodle recipes are common across India and are made with many flavored sauces. Particularly the chilli and curry sauce noodles are the most popular ones and are made as street food across India. But there is one more flavor getting a lot of attention lately and that is the Schezwan noodles recipe.

I have posted quite a few Schezwan recipes on my blog, including a recipe post for Schezwan chutney itself. However, in this post, I have used store-bought veeba sauce which I recommend if you do not wish to make sauce from scratch. This is a sponsored recipe post from Veeba. In addition, the spice level in the Veeba sauce is apt and perhaps can be liked by everyone. The spice level is medium but can be easily controlled by adding more. But if you do not have access to it, you can always look into my Schezwan sauce recipe and make it from scratch. You can also use any store bought as per your taste preference.

Furthermore, I would like to add some more tips, suggestions, and variations for a perfect Spicy Schezwan noodles recipe. Firstly, you can make these noodles with any choice of noodle variations. But I would heavily recommend using hakka noodles compared to others like rice noodles or thick noodles. Secondly, if you are using store-bought Schezwan sauce, inspect the spice level before using it in the recipe. Each sauce has its variations in the spice level and you may have to adjust the quantity accordingly. Lastly, once the cooked noodles are added to the pan, do not over mix it. Be gentle and perhaps use a fork or spoon to mix it in a high flame.

About Schezwan Noodles

It is a popular flavored noodles recipe made out of the super spicy Schezwan sauce or chutney. Typically a noodles recipe is made with just soy sauce, vinegar, and tomato sauce. However, to make things more exciting and flavored, Schezwan sauce is added on top or as an alternative to tomato sauce to add the extra zing. Typically, Schezwan Noodles are prepared via street food vendors, but this popular noodles variant has been widely embraced by fast food joints and dine-in restaurants too. It can be either served as a light evening snack or even for lunch and dinner meal courses.

There are many different types of Schezwan Noodles recipes across India. However, the most common one is to make spicy noodles with a range of stir-fried noodles. However, the recipe can also be made with additional protein ingredients too. You can add paneer, tofu, and different types of meat tenders for additional protein intake. In addition, the noodles can be prepared without any vegetable or protein meat toppings. The cause can be applied just to the noodles to make super simple noodles.

Chef Tips for Schezwan Noodles

The recipe is extremely simple with no complex steps and complicated ingredients to make a complete meal. Yet some basic tips, suggestions, and variants to Schezwan Noodlesare –

  1. Noodles Selection – There are many commercially available noodle options which makes it super simple to make cooked noodles. However, I would recommend Chings Instant noodles for this recipe. It should work for any type of noodle without any issues.
  2. Cooking Style – The noodle preparation is done on a high flame with stir fry cooking. This ensures the veggies and noodles are cooked thoroughly yet carry the crunchiness for a better eating experience.
  3. Taste Balance – The final noodle taste should be balanced with spiciness, salt, sweetness, and sourness. Typically these tastes are derived from sauce and hence it needs to be best. You may use homemade or store-bought based on your preferences.
  4. Toppings – The typical preparation is done by adding basic veggies like carrots, beans, cabbage, spring onion, and broccoli. Yet the veggie toppings can be experimented with and can be played with individual preferences.
  5. Serving – Once the noodles are prepared, it has to be served immediately. Otherwise, the veggies and noodles would lose their crunchiness.
