Kara, I’m a little teary, after reading what you said about your great grandma, my sweet Grandma Larsen. She was an excellent cook. And yes, she made everything, with love, from scratch. It was at her house I had my first corn dog, made from scratch. I have fond memories of being the in her kitchen, playing in the flour drawer, as she baked. I remember her yummy gumdrop bars; my mom made them, also. Thank you for sharing this recipe and the memories. Although I have no boys of my own at home anymore, I always enjoy reading your blog.?

I wish I could have met her! I loved growing up in their home and wondering what it would have been like to know her. These are one of my favorite treats to make because they remind me of home and my Grandma Larsen who made them often. I miss her everyday!

Have this recipe from the 1950’s, an elderly neighbor gave it to my mother, I shall have to look to see if the actual recipe is the same but I had to chuckle at not the spice ones. We actually use the spice gum drops in our family recipe.
Big favorite of our holiday baking.
